Vaporesso iTank T, the sub-ohm tank in six figures
A 6 ml tank on one listing, 3 ml on another, coils rated from 0.15 to 0.3 ohm on one page and up to 0.5 ohm on the next. The Vaporesso iTank T travels with spec sheets that do not all agree. This top-airflow sub-ohm tank can still be judged on a handful of precise values, provided it is clear which ones come from the maker and what they mean for the mod underneath.
Vaporesso iTank T, the six figures on the maker’s sheet
The Vaporesso iTank T is a sub-ohm tank with top filling and top airflow, built for the whole GTi coil family. Its sheet on Vaporesso’s official store comes down to six markers.
| Marker | Value stated by Vaporesso |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 58.4 mm tall, 24.5 mm wide |
| Weight | 78 g |
| Capacity | 6 ml (international specification) |
| Coils supplied | GTi 0.2 ohm Mesh (fitted) and GTi 0.4 ohm Mesh |
| Compatible coils | the whole GTi platform |
| Spares in the box | an extra glass, two O-rings, a silicone refill plug |
Those values are the reference for reading retailer listings, which repeat the same data but not always in the same order or with the same capacity.
Capacity, 6 ml, 3 ml or 2 ml depending on the sheet
This is the figure that moves most from source to source. Three values circulate for the same tank, each with its own reason.
Bubble glass and straight glass
Vaporesso’s international sheet lists 6 ml and an extra glass without stating its size. Some European retailers go further and describe a 6 ml bubble glass and a 3 ml straight glass in the same box, while disagreeing on which one comes fitted.
The gap matters when comparing listings. The capacity shown at the top of a page depends on the glass a seller chooses to feature, not on a different version of the tank.
The 2 ml ceiling in the UK
In the UK, the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 limit a refillable tank to 2 ml. Vaporesso lists a 2 ml TPD version on the sheet for its iTank 2, next to 8 ml and 5 ml versions. The iTank T sheet consulted only mentions 6 ml, so the capacity of the glass actually supplied is worth checking on a British retailer’s listing before buying.
GTi coils and their wattage ranges
The GTi platform is the tank’s only consumable, and its power table is the most useful marker on the sheet. Vaporesso publishes four values, each with a range and a recommended setting.
| GTi Mesh coil | Stated range | Recommended setting |
|---|---|---|
| 0.15 ohm | 75 to 90 W | 85 W |
| 0.2 ohm | 60 to 75 W | 65 W |
| 0.4 ohm | 50 to 60 W | 55 W |
| 0.5 ohm | 30 to 40 W | 35 W |
Only the 0.2 and 0.4 ohm coils come in the box. The other two are sold separately, and the maker’s sheet lists them as compatible. A test published by a retailer gives a narrower range, GTi coils from 0.15 to 0.3 ohm, which would rule out the 0.4 ohm coil supplied with the tank. On that point, Vaporesso’s own sheet is the reference.
The table also shows a less obvious ranking. The 0.4 ohm coil starts at 50 W, twenty watts above the 0.5 ohm coil, even though their resistance values sit close together. Choosing a coil is therefore first a matter of choosing a power range.
Which mod can carry the Vaporesso iTank T
The GTi table can also be read the other way round, starting from the mod’s maximum output. Two figures then decide whether the pairing works, that wattage ceiling and the width of the mod’s top plate next to the 24.5 mm of the Vaporesso iTank T.
The mod’s maximum output, step by step
Setting Vaporesso’s recommended settings against four power ceilings gives the following grid.
| Mod’s maximum output | GTi coils usable at the recommended setting |
|---|---|
| 40 W | 0.5 ohm only |
| 60 W | 0.5 and 0.4 ohm |
| 75 W | 0.5, 0.4 and 0.2 ohm |
| 90 W or more | all four, 0.15 ohm included |
A mod capped at 60 W only runs the factory-fitted 0.2 ohm coil at the very bottom of its range, short of the recommended 65 W. The 75 W step is the first one that runs both boxed coils across their full range.
The top plate, the other figure to check
Width matters as much as power. Our look at the Eleaf iStick Pico and its 18650 cells shows why. The original mod, rated at 75 W, covers the ranges of the 0.2, 0.4 and 0.5 ohm coils, but its maker’s sheet gives a width of 23 mm, 1.5 mm less than the tank’s diameter. The tank then sits slightly proud of the top plate.
Vaporesso iTank T and iTank 2, the measurable gaps
The iTank T follows the iTank 2 in the catalogue, and Vaporesso’s two sheets allow a figure-by-figure comparison. Both run on the same coil platform, with identical ranges for the 0.2 and 0.4 ohm coils.
The gap lies in capacity and airflow. The iTank 2 comes in 8 ml, 5 ml and 2 ml versions depending on the market, while the iTank T stops at 6 ml on its international sheet. The iTank T is also the first in the series to move its air intake to the top, a change Vaporesso describes as highly anticipated. The system that draws condensation back up to revaporise it appears on both sheets, so it is not specific to the newer model.
A simple log to keep for the tank
The maker’s values only mean something next to real use. A short record kept coil after coil places the hardware where it belongs.
| Marker | Reference value | What to note |
|---|---|---|
| Coil fitted | 0.2 ohm at 65 W | the wattage actually set |
| Glass in place | 2 ml on a UK-compliant tank | the glass actually fitted |
| Coil replacement | no lifespan stated | the date and the sign observed |
Vaporesso publishes no rated lifespan for its GTi coils. COREX 2.0 is presented as extending coil life, without a reference figure, which makes a personal log all the more useful. The same principle applies to pods, as our Kiwi Sparks figures show.
FAQ
The questions below deal with getting started on the tank and add to the figures covered above.
Which drip tip does the iTank T take?
An 810 drip tip, the wide format. The retailers consulted describe the stock tip as interchangeable with other tips in that format.
Which colours is it sold in?
Vaporesso’s store lists black, grey, silver, blue, brown and rainbow. The maker also offers the tank in two versions, standard and Dual Mesh.
Which e-liquids suit this tank?
Sub-ohm coils of this kind generally work with liquids high in vegetable glycerine, which handle higher power better. In the UK, nicotine-containing e-liquid is capped at 20 mg/ml and sold in bottles of no more than 10 ml. A very sweet recipe generally clogs the wick sooner.
Should a new coil be left to soak after filling?
Yes, a few minutes are generally enough for the cotton to take up liquid. Starting at the bottom of the stated range before moving up to the recommended setting lowers the risk of a burnt taste.
How does the iTank T reduce leaks?
Vaporesso combines two features, the air intake placed at the top of the tank and a system that draws condensation back up to revaporise it rather than letting it run out through the base.
Reading the Vaporesso iTank T by the right indicators
Three markers are enough to place this tank. Capacity is checked on the glass actually supplied, not on the heading of a listing. The GTi coil table sets the power range, and the mod’s maximum output, together with the width of its top plate, shows whether it can carry the tank.
For the Vaporesso iTank T, as for any tank, the maker’s figures are the starting point, to be set against retailer listings and one’s own log. Reading indicators that way, side by side, is what places a piece of hardware within the market.
